Popeye Bak Kuh Teh - #MuarBlogs

Whenever we crave for some authentic Bak Kuh Teh here in Muar, this is the place we go.

Popeye Bak Kuh Teh
No 116, Jalan Abdul Rahman
84000 Muar Johor, Malaysia.

Bah Kuh Teh means Bone Pork Soup.
A herbal based soup. Combined with pork meats, a variety of mushrooms, vegetables and meatballs. This hot soup is loaded with flavors that will definitely tickle your taste buds. The meat is boiled in hours extracting it's natural flavor and making its meat tender as well.

When ordering, you'll be asked which meat you like to be added in your dish. You can either choose the pork meats and vegetables only, without the pork innards, or combined both. And that's when they mix the ingredients and boil in the claypot. This way you get to enjoy the soup steaming hot.

And this is our order, good for two persons. With two white rice and a pineapple juice in can.
As of writing, this meal is 20.90RM.

Here in Muar, there are countless shops offering Bah Kuh Teh. There's even Dry Bak Kuh Teh, where it has no soup. It's a bit similar to Pork Adobo in Philippines without the sour/acid taste.

Watch our YouTube video here ↓↓

That's it guys! See you on our next Muar Blogs ☺
Where we will be featuring places, foods and anything under the sun here in Muar!

LoveLots,
Renelah

Malaysia's RnR: Rest and Relaxation

Malaysia's R&R Rest and Relaxation, or in Malay word Rehat Dan Rawat which literally means, a place where you can actually rest and relax your tired body and more. Travelling here in Malaysia, be it by bus or with the comfort of your own car. Has always been a breeze. No worries when feeling hungry, tired or the need to attend some personal hygiene/things. There's R&Rs, a pit stops, equipped to provide your needs.
Providing travelers a place to eat, a hut where you can have a picnic with your packed lunches. Toilets both for men and women, Surau (Muslim prayer areas), petrol stations, mini stores for snacks and fresh fruit stands. And an ample parking space where you can even sleep when you're too tired to drive. It's like a park beside the highway where you can stop, rest and relax. Making your journey a lot more convenient and safe.
We, my husband and I, and sometimes with friends/family, get to enjoy this facility. It has been a part of our trip. Making our journey more fun and relaxed.

And this is our favorite R&R stop, Restoran Jejantas Ayer Keroh.

Whenever we go to Kuala Lumpur from Muar and going back. This is our go-to R&R. This pit stop offers a variety of restaurants to eat from. Mini stores where I get to buy my fave fish crackers. They have stores for fresh fruits as well. And I like there mini huts where we can just stay there and have our picnics. And a faucet nearby to wash our things. Just be mindful of your garbage. They have bins for that. Be considerate, clean your space before leaving☺.

Because of these R&Rs, you're always sure that you'll never travel hungry, sleepy and tired. Making life more less worry and safer for everyone. We always make sure to take note/mention every time we see stops like these to inform everyone that we can always stop and stretch our legs when needed.
Indeed, a big help for each and everyone.

Do you have any fave R&R, care to share it here with us ☺
Hope to see you again!
LoveLots,
Renelah

Roadtrip to Genting Highlands-SelfDriving UpHill/DownHill

We've been to Genting Highlands for several times already. And every time, we choose the Gondola Cable Car ride. I enjoy riding the gondola, whilst having this great fear from heights. Maybe because it fascinates me, while admiring the views around me, the feeling of being up there looking down and the blue sky above which I feel like I'm closer to heaven. Admiring the beauty of God's creation. Not to mention, the fresh cold air covering my face while ascending/descending to/from the hills.
2011

But this time, we decided to take the road and drive to Genting Highlands!
With our 1.0G Axia. And with my Loves Patience. Patience is a Virtue! And skills.. And besides, we'll save about 36RM. You see, one way cable car fare is 9RM so for return ticket it's already 18RM per person.
For easier booking, you can use Klook for your activites. Book here ⇩⇩

You can watch our YouTube Video Here ⇩⇩
This is our YouTube Channel.

Along the way, there's a lot of blind curves both accelerating/decelerating. Be aware of small/big humps, sometimes both consequently. Use Low Gear for engine breaks.
Nevertheless, enjoy the ride, feel the cool breeze. Look outside the window and enjoy the views outside. Share those sweet smiles with every tourists alike going to Genting. There's no more rewarding than reaching your destination safe and happy.

We parked our car at Maxis Hotel. Below is the parking rates.⇩⇩

Time for some coffee!

There's a lot of things one can do in Genting. There's Indoor Rides for kids, Casino for adults, arcades both kids and adults. You can do shopping as well. A wide variety of restaurants to choose from. I can say, until now we haven't covered everything in Genting, the whole day is not enough to explore this place. It's a big playground for both kids and adults, friends and family. There's also parks where you can just chill and relax. How you enjoy Genting is up to you. But for us today, it's plain road trip and food trip.

Back in 2011, there's an Outdoor Theme Park but at the moment it is still on renovation. There are several hotels where you can stay here in Genting, you can click here for bookings. Or this one ⇩⇩.

We decided not to stay long that day. We don't want to catch the dark while driving downhill, there's no problem driving at night, but, we prefer to avoid it since we're not really familiar with the road. And we can already see the fog formation. Better to be safe than sorry, right?! And also we're planning to have our dinner at Mid Valley Mall.

Driving Going Down From Genting Highlands. ⇩⇩

After reaching Kuala Lumpur, we went to Mid Valley Mall and had our dinner at RA-MEN BANKARA - Up coming blog :)

We will definitely come back again. who knows hehehe, maybe next week/month? Genting is a resort/city built in the hills/mountains. Its location makes it a great place to visit especially on summer time because of its cold weather. You get to wear your thick clothes/jackets the whole day. See your icy breathe when talking. Walk around without sweating even the sun is still high above.

A get away on a weekend is our one way of de-stressing ourselves. Life is already complicated and adding up some treats or I may say, pleasures, may it be a simple one or extravagant, it's up to you. But if it makes life more wonderful then it's worth it. And for today our simple treat comes in a simple road trip to Genting. This place is a combination of both worlds, nature and spending ☺ You're free to chose which one for you or maybe both.

After satisfying our cravings for some Japanese Ramen. We headed back home to Muar.
That completes our simple roadtrip, ending with a foodtrip
Hope to see you again!
LoveLots,
Renelah

LANGKAWI EAGLE SQUARE, DATARAN LANG

Located at the right side of Kuay Jetty.
This is the largest man made eagle statue I've ever seen so far. With both wings spread wide with great lengths. Admiring its beauty and feeling the strength of the eagle with its meticulously made structures. Standing high above the ground. With the spectacular blue sky above and clean clear sea below.

This place is visited by tourists and locals alike. Enjoying everything that this park has to offer. But be advised that it can be very hot during the day here. Having located in an open space beside the sea, the wind and the sun can be a bit unforgiving sometimes. Just equip yourself with some sunscreens or bring your hat/umbrella ^.^.

Back View
Be it front, side or back view, this statue portraits strength and power. Standing tall and looking down to everything there is below him.

With Friends!- GoPro

Here comes sunset!
Capturing its beauty under the lens.
Once again witness its beauty and power in another perspective.
This place is not only about this eagle but as well as its surroundings. Great place for picnics and hang out with friends or with your someone special.
Just walking distance from this place, you'll find several souvenir outlets. And numbers of restaurants, enough to provide for your hunger.

LoveLots!

LANGKAWI ISLAND HOPPING

Another way to explore Langkawi is through there beautiful islands. Your trip here will never be perfect without visiting these islands and white sand beaches.
Island Hopping!
It's time to hit the road for our adventure for the day ^.^
Pinoys from Muar
Boy Band?!

Collaboration of Pinoys in Malaysia

Wearing a life vest is a must. Have someone/something to hold on to during this entire trip for your own safety. Believe me when I say, it's a fast and a rough ride. As if you'll think that the boat is hitting some hard rocks under.

Our captain first showed us this mountain  which shapes like a pregnant lady lying in her back.

Second Destination: Dayang Bunting Lake
                                   Entrance Fee : 6 RM
Life Vest Rent : 5 RM - Guests are required to wear life vest when swimming in the lake.

On our way to the forest.
Reminder:
While walking thru the pathway, be mindful of the monkeys around. Don't bring anything wrap in plastic bag because they will think its food and they will snatch it from you. Just refrain from feeding them. They may look at you with curiosity but they will not harm you. They are only interested in the one they thought is food that you are carrying.
First time hubby and I visited this lake was 6 years ago. During that time, our tourist guide shared us about a love story behind this lake. About a Princess and an ordinary guy who fell in love with each other. They got married and then the princess got pregnant. But unfortunately, their son did not live longer which they buried his body in the lake. Then the princess prayed to whoever has a difficulty in having their own child will be blessed with fertility after dipping into the water.

After reaching this part of the forest, one can choose several activities.

Or you can take this boardwalk where you can reach the other end and see this white sand
beach. ⇩

But from this point, as far as I can see, there's no way going down.  I don't know if there's a way either to this beach.

Third Destination: Eagle Feeding
Here you can feed eagles and enjoy watching them as they dive into the water picking up their food. But during this visit our boat captain forgot to bring one. But luckily, when we're about to reach this place, several tourists are already feeding the eagles, enough for us to witness and admire the eagles while catching their food.
Photos below were taken six years ago.⇩⇩ - during our first trip.

Fourth Destination: Pulau Beras BasaTime to hit the beach!
Last part of this tour is hitting the beach here at Pulau Beras Basa. After applying our sunscreen, one by one we run to the beach and spent an hour enjoying the water. As time passes by, a lot of tourists like us arrived to spend the rest of the day here. Just a few meters away from the shore there's a part where you are not allowed to go further because of the sea urchins present below the sea bed. But then, we enjoyed relaxing our tired body swimming in this beach. Clear blue sky above you, green forest, clean warm water massaging your body and soft white sand feeling your feet, this is VACATION!

Friendly Reminder:
There's no Comfort Rooms or Tandas( in Bahasa ^.^) in this beach. Which means NO Changing Room for you. Just be creative! Wear your swimmer and layer it with your changing clothes.
Bring sunscreens! You don't want that painful sunburns, right!

Life is like a camera...
Focus on what's important,
Capture the good times,
Develop from the negatives,
And if things don't work out,
Take another shot! Credits: PictureQoutes.com

This tour was fully arranged by our friend Nald.
